Drought Concerns Emerging for Arkansas

Recent weather patterns subjecting Arkansas to little rainfall and high heat for most of June to date are expected to continue into July according to meteorologist Eric Snodgrass in his most recent mid-week weather outlook for Cotton Incorporated. In his presentation on June 23rd, he indicated a high probability of hot and dry conditions to persist for Arkansas and other parts of the Central U.S. While Arkansas saw many planting delays due to wet weather through May, June has been very dry for most of the Eastern half of the state. This weather is now presenting challenges to farmers at an important time for most crops, and those challenges will grow with each day without rainfall and cooler temperatures.
