Important deadlines are on the horizon for establishing risk management coverage for 2022 crops through USDA programs for crop insurance and commodity title safety-net programs. Farmers must make crop insurance decisions, including Stacked Income Protection Program (STAX) for cotton acreage by February 28th. Elections for commodity title programs including Price Loss Coverage (PLC) and Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) must be made by March 15th.
Agricultural producers who have coverage under most crop insurance policies are eligible for a premium benefit from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) if they planted cover crops during the 2022 crop year.
