Cotton Farm & Gin in Lake City Flip Switch on Solar Power System

On Friday, July 31st, an Arkansas cotton farm and gin in Lake City held a "flip the switch" ceremony to celebrate the completion of a large solar array system. The project is managed by Craighead Electric Cooperative and Today's Power, Inc. The two megawatt system will incorporate two different solar technologies (fixed-tilt and single-axis tracking) plus on-site battery energy storage.

The project is an example of a larger trend taking place in agriculture in Arkansas and across the country as the industry continues to rapidly advance in the area of sustainability with the adoption of technologies that can enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impacts.
