Congress Reauthorizes Grain Standards Act

The House and Senate have officially completed work on the U.S. Grain Standards Reauthorization Act of 2020. The measure now awaits signature by President Trump. The measure authorizes the United States' inspections efforts provided by the Federal Grain Inspection Service to define and classify grains as well as assign grades to specify weight and quality requirements. This program is designed to provide consistency and fairness in the marketplace for both buyers and sellers. The law was last reauthorized in 2015. The U.S. Grain Standards Reauthorization Act of 2020 had wide industry support from national and state agriculture groups.
