China Tells Ag Buyers to Halt Purchases of U.S. Commodities

On Monday, June 1, news sources reported that China, in retaliation to the United States, has ordered national import companies to cease purchases of U.S. grown commodities. The order was reportedly issued in response to U.S. actions related to Hong Kong. In recent days, President Trump and his administration have amplified their messages against China for not living up to the Phase 1 agreement, allowing the spread of COVID-19, and attempting to enact new state controls over Hong Kong.
