A new deal between the United States and Brazil is expected to delay for an additional 90 days a tariff rate quota (TRQ) that was supposed to lead to a 20% tariff on U.S. exports to Brazil that were in excess of the 198 million gallon import quota. Brazil is a significant user of renewable fuels, and the U.S. ethanol and corn industries would like to soon see a longer term deal that will make the Brazilian market more accessible and competitive for U.S. exports.
