President-elect Joe Biden is reported to have a selection for U.S. Trade Representative. According to multiple reports, his choice to serve as chief trade negotiator is Katherine Tai, who currently serves as chief counsel for the House Ways and Means Committee. The trade representative post is regarded as a cabinet position within the office of the president. If confirmed, Tai would be the first woman of color and first Asian American to hold the role of top U.S. trade negotiator. She would replace Robert Lighthizer who's served in his role since 2017.
