On Monday, April 11th, President Biden held a meeting at the White House with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to discuss his $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan and how to pay for the measure known as the American Jobs Plan. Following a two hour meeting, there continued to be difference between Republicans and Democrats on the plan and how to pay for it. However, both sides indicated appreciation for the opportunity to meet and discuss the shared interest in improving infrastructure in across the United States. President Biden indicated his desire to get a plan through Congress this year, and he's noted that he is prepared to pursue the effort through a partisan budget procedure known as reconciliation if Republicans decide to not take part in negotiating a bipartisan plan. While Democrats have a majority in the House and Senate, the Senate majority is so slim approving a measure through a budget reconciation procedure would require approval from every Democrat in the Senate.
