Arkansas General Assembly Continues Work on Congressional Maps

The Arkansas General Assembly finished the week out without finalizing updates to the Arkansas Congressional maps as required following the U.S. Census Bureau data. They will meet again on Monday to resume work with both House and Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs doing the bulk of the work in negotiating various concepts for what the maps should be. It appears significant progress was made, and the work is likely to advance much faster next week. While the reconfiguation of congressional maps is the top issue under consideration, the legislature is considering a range of other items, including whether to implement a government mandate that would restrict businesses from requiring employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19. That debate also is continuing at the Capitol.
