ARDOT Says I-40 Bridge Set to Begin Reopening

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) was able to begin the reopening of the Interstate 40 Hernando de Soto Bridge over the Mississippi River on Saturday evening with East Bound Traffic only. ARDOT plans for a full opening for two way traffic beginning August 6th. The bridge was initially closed on May 11th after a routine safety inspection revealed a substantial fracture in a primary support beam deemed to be critical to the safe function of the bridge for traffic loads.
