American Farm Bureau Outlines a Desired COVID-19 Aid Package

On Wednesday, June 10th, American Farm Bureau submitted a letter to congressional leaders urging a significant aid package for the U.S. agriculture sector to address economic injury caused by COVID-19, ongoing trade disputes, and the general global economic slowdown. The primary request was for $68 billion in Commodity Credit Corporation with flexibility for USDA to develop aid programs as needed without payment limitations. The Ag Council of Arkansas strongly supports this need.

Several other aid requests were made, which we also support. Congress is expected to approve another comprehensive aid package to assist in the reopening of the economy and in anticipation of more challenges due to the virus spreading further.
