Ag Groups Express Concern for Proposed SEC Reporting Rule for Public Companies

In late April, more than 100 agriculture interest groups sent a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) expressing concern for proposed climate disclosure requirements for publicly traded companies. The primary concerns are related to the potential for farmers and ranchers to have to report new personal and business-related information to the SEC and shareholders of various public companies. Such regulations would add to the long list of regulatory filings already mandated for farmers and could prove cumbersome and may subject them to liability exposure.
