Ag Economy Barometer Shows Farmers Concerns for Input Costs and Supply Chain Disruptions

According to the latest Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, farmer sentiment continues to weaken as rising input costs and supply chain disruptions place pressure on farmers and the agriculture industry. While commodity futures market prices have strengthened for most commodities, the rapid increase in input costs has weighed heavy on optimism for the 2022 crop year.

The Purdue University-CME Group Ag Economy Barometer sentiment index is calculated each month from 400 U.S. agricultural producers’ responses to a telephone survey. This month’s survey was conducted from January 17-21, 2022.
