On April 29th, the Agricultural Council of Arkansas submitted comments to USDA per the agency's request for public comment on the Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad. The letter laid out key principles that the organization feels are most important in developing climate policy, that include ensuring that any such policy 1) is based in sound science; 2) provides sufficient incentives for participating; 3) rewards early adopters; 4) avoids mandated activities or penalties; 5) works across all commodities and regions; and 6) does not take away anything from other programs farmers currently rely on.
