Ag Council Pushes for Vaccine Availability for Farmers

The Ag Council of Arkansas continues to press for timely delivery of COVID-19 vaccines to Arkansas's agriculture industry and members of the Ag Council of Arkansas. While those in food production are considered essential workers and are placed in a priority list (1B) to receive vaccinations, the state has yet to move them into the groups eligible to receive vaccinations. They are expected to be one of the next groups eligible as more supply of vaccines comes available.

We recently communicated to those in charge of the deployment efforts in Arkansas that we encourage delivery to our sector as soon as possible as our members begin preparations for planting their 2021 crops. We've specifically encouraged the state to allow pharmacies in the Delta region to allow the remaining residents in the 1B group to receive vaccines in cases where pharmacies do not have sufficient demand from groups already approved to receive vaccines so that no vaccines go to waste.

We encourage those interested in receiving the vaccine to register with pharmacies in your area and make note of your status in food production industry.
