Additional Tariffs May Come on Certain Imported Fertilizer

On July 17th, the U.S. International Trade Commisssion (ITC) will consider whether to implement new tariffs on certain imported fertilizers from Russia, and Trinidad and Tobago. The proposed tariffs would be based on dumping cases before the U.S. trade court. On June 21, 2022, the Department of Commerce announced its affirmative final determinations in the antidumping duty (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) investigations of urea ammonium nitrate solutions from Russia and Trinidad & Tobago. The tariffs as proposed are likely to place greater price pressures on farmers seeking to source fertilizer in the coming years.
