Additional CFAP Aid Expected in August

According to a recent interview between USDA undersecretary for farm production and conservation, Bill Northey, and Agri-Pulse, farmers can soon expect additional Commodity Food Assistance Program (CFAP) payments in August. The payment will be on the other 20 percent of what was eligible under the initial program. Funding for the program was made available in the initial CARES Act, which was established at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional aid is expected to come from Congress and USDA for the 2020 crop year, but Congress has yet to approve the funds necessary to provide such assistance.
