7 Steps for Planting Cover Crops by Dr. Bill Robertson

Dr. Bill Robertson of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture recently offered farmers interested in growing fall cover crops a few steps to consider before going all in. Cover crops have grown in popularity and acreage in Arkansas and across the country in recent years, and that trend is expected to continue with new incentives from carbon offset markets and enhanced conservation payments from USDA. With the fall of 2022 just around the corner, many decisions regarding cover crops for the fall will be made in the coming weeks.
