3.19.2020 Arkansas Honey Production Estimates

On March 19th, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released a honey production report for Arkansas. According to the report, during 2019 Arkansas commercial honey production was down 21 percent from 2018.

There were 20,000 honey producing colonies in 2019, down 8,000 colonies from previous year. Yield per colony averaged 55 pounds of honey, up 10 percent from 2018. Honey stocks held by producers on December 15, 2019, were 176,000 pounds, up 110 percent from a year earlier. The average price for honey decreased from $1.88 per pound in 2018 to $1.53 per pound in 2019. The total value of honey production totaled $1.68 million, down 36 percent from the previous year.
