House Committee Approves Measure to More Accurately Map Broadband in U.S.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee recently approved the Broadband Deployment Accuracy and Technological Availability (DATA) Act (H.R. 4229) to better map broadband service area maps in the U.S. Many rural areas where agriculture is predominant remain underserved when it comes to access to broadband services, and current government maps are misleading in representing true service areas.

As precision agriculture systems continue to advance they will need broadband service to operate as designed, so it’s vital that broadband services be available to agricultural land area in the U.S. Broadband networks are critical for autonomous systems, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, data collection and processing, and more.
