Trump Administration Changes Procedures for Endangered Species Act

On Monday, August 12th, the Trump administration, through the Department of Interior and Department of Commerce, adjusted procedures related to the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The changes relate to the processes for adding or removing species to the threatened or endangered list as well as designating critical habitat. The changes also include how agencies consult with one another in these processes. These changes were viewed favorably by many in the agriculture sector and criticized by environmental groups.
