June 17 Crop Progress Report

On Monday, June 17, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released crop progress data for Arkansas and the United States. According to the report for Arkansas, nearly all acres are planted with the exception of soybeans, which are estimated to be 79 percent planted. The national report estimated that only 92 percent of corn acres and 77 percent of soybean acres were planted to date, and it is estimated that a significant number of those acres listed as planted are categorized as prevented plant and will not go harvested this year. The number of acres of prevented plant insurance will likely increase after this week as more rains are expected throughout the corn belt.
