House Appropriations Committee Advances Agriculture Spending Bill

On Tuesday, June 4th, the House Appropriations Committee marked up and approved its fiscal year 2020 agriculture appropriations bill that provides operating funds for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The bill provides $24.3 billion and ignores the president’s budget proposal, which called for a cut of 15% in spending. The bill was approved on a party line vote and will now go to the House floor for consideration.
