USDA Says $16 Billion Aid Package Ready for Farmers

On Thursday, May 23rd, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue made it known that the department had prepared a $16 billion aid package to assist farmers negatively affected by ongoing trade disputes. The Secretary is scheduled to meet with President Trump who will hold a press conference at 3:15 pm est. Details of the plan are expected to be released later on Thursday. A press release from USDA indicated payments would be issued in three tranches, with the first one issued in late-July or early-August.
