Infrastructure Talks Melt Down in Washington

On Wednesday, May 22nd, a second meeting between President Trump and Congressional Democrats on infrastructure reportedly turned sour quickly when the discussion deviated from infrastructure to investigations. President Trump indicated in a White House Rose Garden press conference following the meeting that he would not work with Democrats until they agreed to discontinue investigations related to the President. A similar meeting held in April indicated that the President wanted a $2 trillion plan to invest in U.S. infrastructure, but no agreement was reached on whether or how to pay for those new investments.
