Friday is Deadline to Comment on PSC Net Metering Rule
The Arkansas Public Service Commission (PSC) will close its public comment period on “net metering” at midnight on Friday, March 23rd. The PSC is considering changes to current “net metering” rules for how utility companies compensate individuals and businesses who provide surplus power to the electric grid from sources like solar.
The issue has gained interest in agriculture as farms and other agriculture businesses have adopted more solar power systems for purposes of providing power to offset their electric use from the grid. For excess power generated by these types of businesses with solar systems, utilities pay for the unused power that’s placed on the grid.
