Congress Approves Legislation for Continuing Resolution, Hurricane Relief, and Debt Ceiling

Shortly after returning to Washington following the August recess and Labor Day, Congress quickly approved a compromise package of legislation that included a three month continuing resolution, disaster relief for hurricanes, and a debt ceiling increase that should fund the government through December 8th.  The measure was quickly adopted by the House and Senate and signed into law by President Trump.  The measure did not include any substantive changes to farm programs, including changes being sought by the cotton industry to place cotton back into the commodity title of the farm bill.
