OSHA Backs Away from Farms with Grain Storage Bins

Earlier this week, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) backed away from its 2011 memorandum instructing its inspectors to ensure grain facilities on farms were in compliance with OSHA regulations.  The 2011 memo in question was a departure from long-standing precedent set by legislative language that exempted small farms from OSHA’s regulatory oversight.  The Agricultural Council of Arkansas is pleased to see OSHA back off of this regulatory over reach, and we thank Senators Pryor and Boozman for their efforts to stop OSHA on this issue.
